Moravian Falls to Alvernia in Non-Conference Action

READING, Pa. --- The Moravian University field hockey squad dropped a non-conference contest to Alvernia University on the road Wednesday evening by a score of 3-1.

How It Happened

  • After a scoreless first quarter, the Golden Wolves got on the board in the 18th minute to take a 1-0 lead to start the second period
  • Four minutes later, after a penalty corner, sophomore forward Sydney Anderson tied the contest in the 22nd minute off a pass from senior midfielder Emily Wells to knot the game at 1-1.  That score would hold until halftime
  • After the intermission, Alvernia scored twice within three minutes to take a 3-1 advantage, which they held for the remainder of the contest

Inside the Numbers

  • Anderson netted her 20th career goal, which makes her the 15th Greyhound in program history to accomplish reach that mark.
  • Well's assist was her second of the season and 15th of her career to move into a tie for fifth in school history
  • Senior goalie Brooke Wilkinson recorded six saves in the match 
  • Alvernia outshot the Greyhounds 15-8 and earned three more corners, 10-7
