HUNTINGDON, Pa. --- The Moravian University field hockey squad earned its first-ever Landmark Conference Tournament berth with a 2-0 shutout victory at Juniata College Saturday.

How It Happened

  • The Eagles had the first opportunity to score with a shot off the post in the eighth minute of action, and that would be the only chance to score for either team in the opening quarter
  • Moravian fired off six shots in the second quarter with four on goal, but the contest remained scoreless at the intermission
  • The Blue and Grey got a shot on goal just 47 seconds into the third quarter, but once again, the match was still scoreless
  • The Greyhounds finally broke onto the scoreboard in the 55th minute when junior midfielder Maddie Call scored on a penalty stroke
  • Moravian added an insurance goal just 36 seconds later when sophomore forward Hanna Leto found the net

Inside the Numbers

  • Moravian clinched its first-ever appearance in the Landmark Conference Tournament with the victory. The Greyhounds have never qualified for the conference playoffs since the Landmark Conference began in 2007
  • In fact, the only time Moravian has previously played in the postseason was back in 1987
  • The Hounds have won seven straight contests and are 11-2 on the year, setting a new school record for wins in a season
  • Junior goalie Brooke Wilkinson did not need to make a save in her fifth shutout of the season while Moravian did have one team save. Wilkinson also became the first goalie in program history to register 11 victories in one year
  • Call's goal was her sixth of the season and the 11th of her career with the Blue and Grey
  • Leto registered her second goal of the year and her career

Quotable from Head Coach Sarah Dalrymple

  • "It's a really exciting time to be a part of Moravian field hockey. To see the work the team has put into the program both on and off of the field over the past year and a half paying off is extremely rewarding. I'm really proud of this group and excited to see what the future holds."
