Greyhounds Fall to No. 3 Scranton in Landmark Conference Action

SCRANTON, Pa. --- The Moravian University women's basketball squad fell to host and No. 3 The University of Scranton, 90-46, in Landmark Conference action Wednesday evening.

How It Happened

  • The Greyhounds opened the scoring with a three-pointer from sophomore guard Lizzie Lustig before the Royals scored four points. The Hounds countered with a 7-0 run to take a 10-4 edge on a three-pointer from junior guard Juliana Vassallo. The Blue & Grey led 11-6 with just over five minutes to go in the first quarter as graduate student forward Sam Osorio sank a free throw. However, Scranton went on a 14-2 run to end the period holding a 20-13 lead after ten minutes of action
  • Sophomore guard Emma Pukszyn drained a jumper to start the second quarter to pull Moravian within five points. The Royals ran off 15 of the next 17 points to push out to a 35-17 advantage, and Scranton took a 37-21 lead to the locker room
  • The Royals slowly extended the advantage throughout the second half

Inside the Numbers

  • Lustig led Moravian with 13 points to go with four rebounds, three assists and two steals
  • Vassallo added seven points and four boards while Pukszyn had six points and a pair of steals
  • Osorio finished with four points and two rebounds while sophomore forward Lanie Herbert contributed seven rebounds and four points
  • Junior guard Jayda Cartagena also had four points while freshman guards Ellie Wallbillich and Kylie Cabana both had two points
  • Sophomore forward Bellisima Lew and freshman forward Brynn Ohlhoff each had one points while freshman forward Kate Donaldson had two rebounds and senior guard Mikalya Anderson registered two points and three assists
  • The Greyhounds shot 17-for-47 from the field, 2-for-6 on three-pointers and 10-of-17 at the foul line
  • The Royals are the third nationally ranked team that Moravian has played this season, and the Hounds still have four games schedule with teams in the D3hoops.com Top 25 with two contests with Elizabethtown College and one each with Scranton and The Catholic University of America on the schedule before the end of the regular season
