WASHINGTON, D.C. --- The Moravian University women's basketball team dropped a 87-49 Landmark Conference contest at No. 24 The Catholic University of America Saturday.
How It Happened
- The Cardinals netted the first basket of the game on a lay-up while senior forward Brielle Guarente connected on a jumper to knot the score at 2-2 for the Hounds. Catholic answered with a 23-2 run to build a 25-4 advantage. Junior guard Juliana Vassallo stopped the run with a lay-up as the Cardinals led 29-11 after ten minutes of action
- Catholic maintained its lead throughout the rest of the game with the advantage reaching as large as 45 points
Inside the Numbers
- Moravian had a pair of players record career highs with Vassallo tossing in a career-best 17 points to go with seven rebounds while freshman guard Sofia Squizziato netted a career-high ten points to go along with five boards and a pair of assists
- Guarente finished with seven points and two rebounds while freshman guard Ellie Wallbillich had five points and four rebounds
- Graduate student forward Sam Osorio, sophomore guard Lizzie Lustig, sophomore guard Emma Altmire, sophomore forward Lanie Herbert and freshman guard Kylie Cabana all scored two points with Lustig adding five boards, two assists and a pair of steals
- Junior guard Jayda Cartagena grabbed three rebounds while freshman forward Brynn Ohlhoff had two rebounds
- The Blue & Grey shot 17-for-57 from the field, 4-for-14 beyond the three-point line and 11-for-15 at the foul line in the contest
