BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University women's basketball squad fell to No. 2 The University of Scranton, 82-40, in Landmark Conference action in Johnston Hall Wednesday evening.
How It Happened
- The Royals scored the first nine points of the game before junior guard Juliana Vassallo sank a jumper for the Greyhounds. Sophomore guard/forward Lizzie Lustig added a lay-up to cut the deficit to 9-4; however, Scranton scored the next six points and led 29-8 after ten minutes of action
- The Royals slowly extended the advantage in the second quarter to take a 42-12 edge to the locker room
- Scranton controlled play throughout the second half, leading 61-24 after 30 minutes of play
- The contest was Moravian's seventh of the season versus a team ranked in the D3hoops.com Top 25 poll, and all seven contests have been part of the Hounds' last 16 games since December 7
Inside the Numbers
- Lustig led the Greyhounds with 13 points to go along with five rebounds while graduate student forward Sam Osorio had six points, three boards and a pair of steals
- Junior guard Jayda Cartagena, freshman guard Ellie Wallbillich and freshman guard Emma Pukszyn each had four points with Wallbillich adding four rebounds and Cartagena and Pukszyn each pulling down two boards
- Freshman guards Sofia Squizziato and Kylie Cabana both scored three points while Vassallo had two points and freshman guard Mallory Elias added one point
- Elias and sophomore forward Bellisima Lew each pulled down three rebounds while sophomore forward Lanie Herbert, senior guard Mikayla Anderson and freshman forward Kate Donaldson all had two rebounds
- The Blue & Grey shot 14-for-50 from the floor, 4-for-14 on three-pointers and 8-for-13 at the foul line
