BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University women's basketball team dropped an 81-48 decision to visiting No. 18 Elizabethtown College in Landmark Conference action in Johnston Hall Saturday afternoon.
How It Happened
- The Blue Jays scored on the opening possession while the Hounds got on the scoreboard with their first shot, a jumper by sophomore guard/forward Lizzie Lustig to knot the contest at 2-2. Elizabethtown ran of 11 straight points to take control, and the Blue Jays led 26-8 after ten minutes of action
- Lustig began the second quarter scoring with a lay-up, and she added a free throw as the Blue & Grey cut the deficit to 26-11. However, Elizabethtown took a 44-19 edge to the locker room at halftime
- Moravian would close within 16 points at 52-36 on a jumper from sophomore forward Lanie Herbert with 1:11 to go in the third period, but the Blue Jays still led 57-38 after 30 minutes of play
- Elizabethtown slowly extended its advantage throughout the fourth quarter
Inside the Numbers
- Lustig and graduate student forward Sam Osorio each netted a team-high nine points for the Greyhounds with Lustig adding three boards and Osorio grabbing six rebounds to move into sixth in program history with 796 boards and 26th all-time with 1,028 points
- Herbert contributed eight points, seven rebounds and two blocked shots while junior guard Jayda Cartagena also had eight points, two rebounds and two assists
- Freshman guard Emma Pukszyn recorded four points, three assists and three boards while junior guard Juliana Vassallo and sophomore guard Emma Altmire each sank a three-pointer with Vassallo adding two assists
- Sophomore forward Bellisima Lew posted four rebounds and two points while freshman guard Ellie Wallbillich had two points and senior guard Mikayla Anderson grabbed three boards
- The Hounds shot 18-for-60 from the field, 2-for-12 on three-pointers and 10-for-12 at the foul line
