BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University women's basketball team fell to No. 19 The Catholic University of America, 68-39, in Landmark Conference action in Johnston Hall Saturday afternoon.
How It Happened
- The Cardinals netted the first 21 points of the game and led 21-2 after the first quarter as junior guard Juliana Vassallo hit a jumper in the final minute of the period for the Hounds
- Vassallo started the second quarter with a three-point play, but Catholic held its advantage throughout the rest of the half to head to the locker room with a 31-14 edge as junior guard Jayda Cartagena connected on a three-pointers and two free throws in the final 44 seconds of the half for the Blue & Grey
- The Greyhounds closed the gap back to 17 points late in the third quarter on a lay-up from Cartagena as the Cardinals led 47-28 after 30 minutes of action
- Catholic extended the advantage throughout the final period
Inside the Numbers
- Cartagena led Moravian 14 points to go with three assists while Vassallo added seven points and five rebounds
- Sophomore guard Lizzie Lustig tossed in six points while freshman guard Emma Pukszyn added four points and two rebounds
- Freshman guard Ellie Wallbillich had three point and five rebounds for the Blue & Grey while graduate student forward Sam Osorio posted four rebounds and two points and freshman guard Mallory Elias added two points
- Sophomore forward Lanie Herbert grabbed four boards while senior guard Mikayla Anderson contributed two rebounds
- The Hounds shot 13-for-49 from the field, 2-for-16 from the three-point line and 11-for-18 at the charity stripe
