Cahill Wins Shot Put to Lead Greyhounds at Seahawk Shootout

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. --- Junior Greg Cahill captured first place in the shot put with an ECAC qualifying toss of 15.14 meters (49-8.25) to lead the Moravian College men's indoor track & field team at the non-scoring Seahawk Shootout hosted by Wagner College at the Ocean Breeze Complex on Friday.

Cahill's winning throw was three and a half feet further than his previous career best in the event, and he also placed 10th in the 35-pound weight throw with a distance of 13.03 meters (42-9). Freshman Denzel Pettway was the runner-up in the shot put with an ECAC qualifying mark of 14.89 meters (48-10.25) while graduate student Parker Munson finished third with Moravian's third ECAC qualifying distance of the event at 14.69 meters (48-2.5). Sophomore Jack Lippin tied for sixth in the weight throw with a toss of 13.69 meters (44-11).

Junior Kahron Walker hit an ECAC qualifying mark in the high jump for the second straight week as he cleared 1.99 meters (6-6.25), placing second in the event while junior Kyle Hagerty finished seventh in the long jump with a mark of 6.06 meters (19-10.75).

On the track, junior Matt Barnett placed sixth in the finals of the 60-meter dash in 7.27 seconds after qualifying in 7.25 seconds while sophomore Eric Morton took eighth in the finals in 7.33 seconds with a preliminary mark of 7.32 seconds. Junior Austin Gardener finished fifth in the 200-meter dash in 23.23 seconds, and he was 11th in the preliminaries of the 60-meter dash in 7.39 seconds. Senior Tyler Dwyer took 11th in the 400-meter dash in 51.84 seconds. Senior Ryan Sickler was seventh in the 60-meter hurdles in 9.25 seconds while freshman Woodrow Battle placed ninth in 9.72 seconds.

Moravian is not scheduled to compete again until Saturday, January 23, 2016 when the team heads to the Ursinus College Invitational in Collegeville.
