Bailey Wins Long Jump to Lead Hounds at Lafayette 7-Way Meet

EASTON, Pa. --- The Moravian College men's track & field squad began its 2016 outdoor season at the Lafayette College 7-Way Meet on Saturday with a fourth place team finish.

Senior Gavin Bailey won the long jump with an ECAC qualifying mark of 6.72 meters (22-0.75) for the Greyhounds as Moravian turned in seven ECAC qualifiers in the meet. Graduate student Parker Munson had an ECAC mark of 44.33 meters (145-5) in the discus to place second in the event, and he was fourth in the shot put with an ECAC qualifying distance of 14.87 meters (48-9.5). Freshman Denzel Pettway placed second in the shot put with an ECAC qualifying mark of 14.99 meters (49-2.25).

Sophomore Kyle Allison was second in the javelin with an ECAC qualifying mark of 58.28 meters (191-2) while junior Michael Guarino finished fourth in an ECAC qualifying distance of 55.14 meters (180-11) and sophomore Robert Condo placed fifth in the event with an ECAC qualifying mark of 53.59 meters (175-10). Senior Ryan Karnopp was third in the pole vault with a mark of 4.25 meters (13-11.25) while freshman Scott Goodwin took fifth in the event at 3.95 meters (12-11.5). Freshman Brian Stock was sixth in the long jump with a leap of 5.82 meters (19-1.25).

On the track, junior Austin Gardener was second in both the 100-meter dash in 11.19 seconds and the 200-meter dash in 22.35 seconds. Bailey took fifth in the 200-meter dash in 23.00 seconds while senior Tyler Dwyer was sixth in both the 200-meter dash in 23.02 seconds and 400-meter dash in 51.05 seconds. Freshman Chris Antoine placed seventh in the 100-meter dash in 11.69 seconds while sophomore Eric Morton was eighth in 11.73 seconds and junior Matt Barnett was ninth in 11.88 seconds.

Freshman John Spirk took fifth in the 400-meter hurdles in 58.37 seconds, and he was sixth in the 110-meter high hurdles in 16.14 seconds. Senior Ryan Sickler was ninth in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:01.43, and he placed tenth in the 110-meter race in 16.92 seconds.

Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Friday and Saturday, April 1-2 at the Muhlenberg College Invitational.
