Bailey Honored as Landmark Conference Men's Field Athlete of the Week

TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian College senior Gavin Bailey has been honored as the Landmark Conference Men's Field Athlete of the Week for his performance this past Saturday at the Kutztown University Last Chance Qualifier.

Bailey won the long jump with an ECAC qualifying mark of 7.00 meters (22-11.75), which is tied for 9th on the Track & Field Results Reporting System for NCAA Division III, and the top 15 males in each event will compete at the NCAA Division III National Championships in March. Bailey also took home a fifth place finish in the 55-meter dash running a 6.79 in the preliminary race then a 6.70 in the finals.

"Gavin's been battling a few injuries for part of the indoor season, but he's been much better the last few weeks and as a result his performances have started to pick up," noted Head Coach Jesse Baumann. "He had a really nice series at our meet at Monmouth last week, and then had two nice 55 times, and obviously a good long jump as well this weekend at Kutztown. We feel like he's starting to peak now, so I think some of the times and jumps we saw from him last season are on the horizon."

Moravian is scheduled to return to action at the 2016 Landmark Conference Championships hosted by Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove on Saturday, February 27. The Hounds are looking for their seventh straight conference title and the program's eighth indoor title in the nine-year history of the conference.
