Walker & Goodwin Earn Event Wins at Collegeville Classic

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. --- Junior Kahron Walker won the long jump with a leap of 6.59 meters (21-7.5) while freshman Scott Goodwin captured the pole vault with a height of 3.81 meters (12-6) to lead the Moravian College men's indoor track & field team at the Collegeville Classic hosted by Ursinus College Friday evening.

The Greyhounds finished third of the 13 competing teams with 63 points. Haverford College won the meet with 90 points.

Freshman Brian Stock was the runner-up in the long jump with a mark of 6.36 meters (20-10.5) while Walker placed third in the triple jump with a distance of 12.54 meters (41-1.75). Junior Kyle Hagerty was fifth in the long jump with a leap of 6.00 meters (19-8.25) while freshman Chris Cordi placed seventh in the pole vault after clearing a height of 3.35 meters (10-11.75).

Senior Ryan Sickler finished fourth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.19 seconds, the same time that had him fourth in the preliminaries. Freshman John Spirk also made the finals of the 60-meter hurdles with a preliminary time of 9.25 seconds, and he took sixth in the finals in 11.44 seconds while freshman Woodrow Battle was ninth in the preliminaries in 9.66 seconds. Junior Matt Barnett was 10th in the 60-meter hurdle preliminaries in 7.35 seconds.

Junior Cory Taggert placed seventh in the mile run with a time of 4:30.25. Senior Tyler Dwyer placed seventh in the 400-meter dash in 52.47 seconds while sophomore Esco Blaylock was ninth in 52.75 seconds. Dwyer combined with Blaylock, Spirk and senior Gavin Bailey to finish fourth in the 4x400-meter relay in 3:36.87 while the quartet of seniors John Barr and Shaughn Gudall, junior Vishu Solanbki and freshman Na'im Pretlow took eighth in 3:55.17. Taggert would join with junior Jordan Sweeney, sophomore Andrew Mitchell and freshman Devon Harris to place third in the 4,000-meter distance medley relay with a time of 11:21.28.b

Moravian is slated to return to action on Saturday, January 30 in the Covert Classic hosted by Lehigh University at Rauch Fieldhouse.
