Greyhounds Compete at East Stroudsburg All-American Meet

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. --- The Moravian College men's track & field team competed at the non-scoring East Stroudsburg University All-American Meet Saturday with junior Cory Taggert winning the 800-meter run in a time of 1:55.64.

Junior Andrew Mitchell was tenth in the race in 2:00.57. Junior Austin Gardener was the runner-up in the 100-meter dash in an ECAC qualifying time of 10.98, and he was fourth in the 200-meter dash in an ECAC qualifying time of 22.00 seconds.

The Greyhounds' 4x100-meter relay squad of senior John Barr, junior Jamil Poole, sophomore Eric Morton and freshman Chris Antoine finished fifth in an ECAC qualifying time of 43.14 seconds. Freshman John Spirk was tenth in the 400-meter hurdles in 58.17 seconds while freshman Peter Milewski took tenth in the 5,000-meter run in 17:30.78.

In the field events, senior Parker Munson was third in the discus with an ECAC qualifying mark of 44.07 meters (144-7), and he was third in the shot put with an ECAC qualifying toss of 15.42 meters (50-7.25). Junior Greg Cahill was eighth in the hammer throw with a toss 42.03 meters (137-11) while sophomore Michael Guarino placed ninth in the javelin with a toss of 51.45 meters (168-9).

Senior Ryan Karnopp was third in the pole vault with a mark of 4.45 meters (14-7.25) while freshman Scott Goodwin finished sixth in the event at 4.27 meters (14-0). Junior Kyle Hagerty was tenth in the long jump at 6.27 meters (20-7).

Moravian will compete in two meets this week with small group competing at the Penn Relays on Friday, April 29, and the rest of the team participating in the Lehigh University Games on Saturday, April 30.
