Munson Named Landmark Conference Field Athlete of the Week

TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian College graduate student Parker Munson has been named the Landmark Conference Men's Field Athlete of the Week for his performance last weekend.

Munson placed fourth in the shot put at the Monmouth University Winter Collegiate Open with an ECAC qualifying toss of 15.70 meters (51-6.25), surpassing the previous school record by one and a quarter inches. The toss ranks 23rd on the Track & Field Results Reporting System for NCAA Division III, and the top 15 males in each event will compete at the NCAA Division III National Championships in March. Munson also finished in the top 10 finish on Saturday as he placed third in the weight throw with a distance of 14.35 meters (47-1).

"It was extremely gratifying for Parker to have the weekend that he did," commented Head Coach Jesse Baumann. "We had an intrasquad meet last year where he unofficially set our indoor school record in the shot, so clearly we've known he could throw like he did on Saturday for quite some time now, it was just a matter of doing it in the meet. He had a tremendous series, in what we all agreed was the best meet he's had here. It was a heavy week for the throwers, so when peaked, we're hoping for even more."

Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Saturday, February 20 at the Kutztown University Six-Team Last Chance Qualifier with action starting at 10:00 a.m.
