TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian University freshman Shayaan Farhad has been honored as the Landmark Conference Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week for his performance last week.
Farhad had a strong debut for the Greyhounds, winning at both first singles and doubles in an 8-1 victory over Immaculata University, and posting a doubles win over DeSales University in a match that was tied at 2-2 when suspended by rain on Sunday. Farhad's first collegiate singles win was a three-set contest versus Immaculata that took over two hours to complete.
"Shayaan is a great addition to our men's team," commented Director of Tennis Mariana Freitas. "He had a great performance this past weekend in the first match of his college career. I am very happy that he was recognized as Athlete of the Week."
Moravian, which is 1-0 overall, is scheduled to return to action on Thursday, September 29 when the Greyhounds travel to rival Muhlenberg College for a non-conference match beginning at 4:00 p.m.
