Moravian Clinches Third Seed in Landmark Conference Tournament with Victory Versus Catholic

BETLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University men's tennis squad clinched the third seed in the 2023 Landmark Conference Tournament with a 7-2 victory over visiting The Catholic University of America at Hoffman Courts Saturday.

How It Happened

  • The Hounds opened the contest with a sweep of the three doubles matches. Sophomores Wyatt Marshall and Ronny Pimentel Ferrer started the afternoon with an 8-4 win at second doubles while the tandem of senior Kieran Pisani and freshman Matthew Labosky won by the same score at third doubles. The duo of sophomore Anthony Ronca and freshman Shayaan Farhad completed the sweep with an 8-7 (8-6) triumph at first doubles
  • The Cardinals closed within two points at 3-2 by taking the first and second singles contests in straight sets. Senior Andrew Hozza posted a 6-0, 6-2 win at sixth singles while sophomore Zachary Lebby garnered the winning team point with a 6-3, 6-3 victory at fourth singles. Pimentel Ferrer and Marshall finished of the day with three set wins at fifth and third singles respectively with Marshall getting done just before a lightning delay hit the facility
  • Moravian completed the Landmark Conference regular season with a 5-2 mark and will travel to second seed Goucher College for a semifinal match on Tuesday, April 25
  • The victory was the 16th of the season for the Greyhounds, extending their program-record win total broken earlier this week
