TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian University freshman Shayaan Farhad has been selected as the Landmark Conference Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week for his performance last week.
Farhad, who garnered his second Landmark Conference Athlete of the Week honor of the year and first of the spring, recorded a 6-1, 6-1 win at first singles in his only action of the week as the Moravian men's tennis team swept Penn State Brandywine, 9-0. The victory was the 13th of the season for the Greyhounds, tying the program's singles season record for wins.
"This is a well-deserved recognition for Shayaan after the past few matches," commented Director of Tennis Mariana Freitas. "The fact that he's able to compete at the highest level and still be successful, while fasting for Ramadan, it is kind of mind-blowing."
The Hounds, who are 13-4 overall, are scheduled to return to the courts on Thursday, April 13 in the final non-conference match of the season with a trip to Penn State Abington for a 4:00 p.m. contest.
