Greyhounds Drop First Match of 2022-23, Falling to Calvin in Final Contest in Florida

ORLANDO, Fla. --- The Moravian University men's tennis squad had its best start in program history stopped Tuesday as the Greyhounds fell to Calvin (Mich.) College, 9-0, at the United States Tennis Association National Training Center in Orlando as the Hounds completed their spring break trip.

How It Happened

  • The Knights won all three doubles match. Sophomores Wyatt Marshall and Ronny Pimentel Ferrer had the closest contest, falling 8-5 at second doubles. Senior Kieran Pisani and freshman Matthew Labosky dropped an 8-4 decision at third doubles
  • Calvin also swept through the singles matches with Moravian freshman Shayaan Farhad having the closest contest, falling 6-3, 6-3 at first singles
  • The Greyhounds had won nine straight matches to start the 2022-23 season, the best start in program history. The nine-match winning streak was the longest for Moravian since the spring of 1996 when the Hounds set a school record with 11 consecutive wins
