Moravian Men Set for Landmark Conference Semifinal at Goucher on April 25

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University men's tennis team is headed to Towson, Maryland on Tuesday, April 25 for the 2023 Landmark Conference Tournament as the number three seed in a semifinal match at second seed Goucher College at 4:00 p.m.

 The Greyhounds have set a program record for wins this year and 16-4 this season with a 5-2 Landmark regular season record under second-year Director of Tennis Mariana Freitas. Moravian is making its first appearance in the Landmark Conference Semifinals since 2015 and the first postseason appearance since 2021, which ended in a 5-1 loss to Goucher in the Landmark Conference Quarterfinals. The Hounds and the Gophers met in late March with Goucher winning by a margin of 6-3. The Blue and Grey are on a seven-match winning streak since losing to the Gophers.

Sophomore Wyatt Marshall leads the Hounds in singles action with a 12-4 record while sophomore Ronny Pimentel Ferrer is 10-5 and freshman Shayaan Farhad is 10-9 in his debut season. Senior Kieran Pisani has an 8-4 singles record while sophomore Zachary Lebby has an 8-5 slate and sophomore Anthony Ronca has recorded a 7-4 singles mark.

Freshman Ryan Burke has recorded a 7-0 singles slate while senior Andrew Hozza is 5-0 and senior Aidan Evans-Gartley has a 4-0 record. Freshman Matthew Labosky is 3-1 in singles play while sophomore Jesse Russo is 2-1 and senior Justin Szaro has one singles win this season.

The doubles tandem of Marshall and Pimentel Ferrer are 15-3 while Labosky and Pisani have posted a 14-6 mark this year. Farhad and Ronca have combined for a 6-7 record while Farhad also has two doubles victories with Lebby. The duos of Farhad and Szaro, Hozza and Pimentel Ferrer and Evans-Gartley and junior Steve Schneider each have one doubles win.

The winner of Tuesday's semifinal match will advance to the 2023 Landmark Conference Championship contest on Saturday, April 29 at the highest remaining seed with the conference champion earning an automatic berth to the 2023 NCAA Division III Tournament in May. The other Landmark Conference Semifinal features top seed Drew University hosting fourth seed The University of Scranton.
