Moravian Defeats Penn State Abington for Program Record 14th Victory of the Season

ABINGTON, Pa. --- The Moravian University men's tennis squad posted an 8-1 non-conference win at Penn State Abington Thursday as the Greyhounds won their program record 14th match of the season.

How It Happened

  • The Greyhounds swept the doubles action to jump out to a 3-0 lead. Sophomore Anthony Ronca and freshman Shayaan Farhad opened the contest with an 8-0 win at first doubles while senior Kieran Pisani and freshman Matthew Labosky won by the same score at third doubles. Sophomores Wyatt Marshall and Ronny Pimentel Ferrer finished the sweep with an 8-4 triumph at second doubles
  • The Hounds captured five of the six singles matches to finish the afternoon. Senior Aidan Evans-Gartley was first off the courts with a 7-5, 6-0 victory at sixth singles while Marshall captured the winning team point with a 6-1, 6-3 win at second singles. Freshman Ryan Burke added a 6-3, 6-1 triumph at fourth singles while Farhad won 6-4, 6-3 at first singles. Sophomore Zachary Lebby garnered Moravian's final point with a 6-1, 6-1 victory at third singles
  • Prior to the 2022-23 campaign, the Greyhounds' program had posted four 13-win seasons including a pair in the last nine years. Moravian began playing tennis in 1939
