BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's soccer team dropped a hard-fought 2-1 decision to visiting Misericordia University in non-conference action on John Makuvek Field Saturday evening in a battle of teams ranked in the latest United Soccer Coaches Mid-Atlantic Regional Rankings with the Cougars sitting at fifth in the region and the Greyhounds ranked tenth.

The Hounds, who are now 4-3 this fall, scored first in the 16th minute when sophomore forward Megan Chesney brought the ball down the right side and sent a crossing post over towards the left side of the 18-yard box. Junior midfielder Val Monaco was there and fired a shot back towards the right side of the net past the diving Misericordia goalie for her first goal of the season.

The Cougars answered right back just 1:14 later to tie the match, and Misericordia pulled ahead in the 25th minute to take a 2-1 lead into the intermission. Neither squad generated much offense in the second half as they combined for just four shots in the final 45 minutes with each team putting one on goal.

Moravian senior goalie Jamie Daly made the start and had three saves in the first half of the contest while junior keeper Siobhan O'Sullivan-Evnagelista had one save in the second half.

The Greyhounds are slated to return to action on Wednesday, September 25 in a non-conference match at Stevenson (Md.) University beginning at 7:00 p.m.
