Hounds Post Shutout Win at Stevenson on Early Goal

OWINGS MILLS, Md. --- The Moravian College women's soccer team scored an early goal and made the 1-0 score stand up as the Greyhounds defeated host Stevenson (Md.) University Wednesday evening the squad's fourth 1-0 shutout of the season.

The Hounds, now 5-3 this fall, took their 1-0 lead in the tenth minute when junior midfielder Val Monaco scored for the second straight contest as she knocked in a pass from junior forward Oonagh Breen. The marker came on the first shot of the contest, and the Blue and Grey finished the evening with a 10-6 edge in shots and a 7-0 advantage in corner kicks with all seven coming in the first half.

Moravian senior goalie Jamie Daly improved to 2-2 in goal this fall as she made two saves in the victory while playing the opening 45 minutes. Senior Siobhan O'Sullivan-Evangelista played the second half of the contest for the Hounds.

The Greyhounds are set to begin their 2019 Landmark Conference season on Saturday, September 28 when the squad welcomes Juniata College to John Makuvek Field for a 4:00 p.m. match.
