BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's soccer team scored twice in a minute and a half span late in the second half to break a 1-1 tie and post a 3-1 victory over visiting Goucher College in Landmark Conference action on John Makuvek Field Saturday to close out the 2019 season.

The Hounds, to complete the year at 7-7-1, took a 1-0 lead in the 21st minute when junior defender Sara Cassel netted her fourth goal of the year off a corner kick from sophomore forward Megan Chesney. The Gophers would tie the scoring just over ten minutes later as the squad eventually headed to the intermission knotted at 1-1.

The Blue and Grey would move back in front in the 73rd minute when junior midfielder Val Monaco chested a ball inside the left post off of a cross driven along the goal line by Chesney, for her eighth assist of the season. Just 1:34 later, senior midfielder Juliana Caranci took a shot that was initially saved but Caranci found the rebound and knocked a shot in off of the right post for her first goal of the season and sixth of her career.

Senior goalie Jamie Daly had two saves in her final collegiate match to finish her career with 81 saves and a 0.96 goals-against average over 2,155 minutes of action.

Prior to the match, the Greyhounds honors Caranci, Daly and fellow seniors forward Taylor Irr and defender Paige Weiss for their careers with the Blue and Grey.

"I was extremely happy for our four seniors today," commented Head Coach Jeff Ykoruk. "All of them impacted the game in a positive way and to send them off with a win is special. They overcame a very frustrating season with the ball not bouncing on many occasions. They always rebounded from those hard moments and stayed committed to training and play hard. We will miss all of them and have some big shoes to fill."
