Women's Tennis Tops East Stroudsburg, 6-2

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's tennis team remained undefeated and improved to 4-0 on the year with a 6-2 win over NCAA Division II East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania at Hoffman Courts Thursday.

The Greyhounds, who were playing their final home match of the fall season, had a 2-1 lead after doubles action.  Senior Chelsea Ott and junior Erica Venuti had an 8-5 win at first doubles while junior Olivia Sonnabend and sophomore Melissa Follett earned an 8-3 win at second doubles.

Moravian would win four of the five singles matches that were completed before darkness set in to win the match.  Ott had a 6-0, 6-0 win at first singles while Follett posted a 6-1, 6-1 victory at second singles.  Freshman Brittany Hodge won in straight sets, 6-2, 6-0 at fourth singles while freshman Courtnie Lambert needed a three-set win 2-6, 6-3, 1-0 (12-10) for Moravian.  Venuti dropped a three-set match at third singles while Sonnabend split the first two sets of her sixth singles match before it got too dark to continue.

The Greyhounds will return to action on Saturday and Sunday, September 29th and 30th at the Goucher College Tournament in Towson, Maryland.
