Women's Tennis Sends Four to Finals at Goucher Tournament

TOWSON, Md. --- The Moravian College women's tennis team had two singles players and one doubles tandem reach the finals of their draws on the opening day of the Goucher College Invitational Saturday.

Freshman Brittany Hodge posted a 6-4, 6-1 win over Caroline Lockwood from Gwynedd-Mercy College and a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Morgan Kelly from Rutgers-Camden to reach the finals of the Second Singles Draw for the Greyhounds.

Freshman Celia Hernandez would reach the finals of the Fourth Singles Draw with a 7-5, 7-6 (7-2) win over Lily Horner from Messiah College and a 6-4, 7-5 triumph versus Tess Kozin from Neumann University.

The Greyhounds doubles team of sophomore Melissa Follett and junior Olivia Sonnabend reached the finals of the First Doubles Draw with a 6-3, 6-4 win over a team from Messiah College and a 6-4, 6-1 victory over a squad from Cedar Crest College.

In other opening day action for Moravian, junior Erica Venuti split a pair of matches in the First Singles Draw, falling to Bre Klar from Neumann, 6-2, 6-2 before defeating Kiersten Patron from McDaniel College, 6-3, 6-2 to earn a spot in the fifth place match on Sunday.  Freshman Courtnie Lambert had a 7-6 (7-4), 6-3 victory over Gab Porcelli from Neumann before she fell to Alex Walsh from Goucher, 6-0, 6-0. Lambert will play in the third place match on Sunday.
