Women's Tennis Selected 4th in Landmark Preseason Poll

TOWSON, Md. --- The Moravian College women's tennis team has been selected to finish fourth in the 2013 Landmark Conference preseason poll voted on by the conference head coaches and announced Wednesday.

The Greyhounds are returning three starters from last year's 5-8 squad that reached the postseason for the 18th consecutive year; however, for the first time in those 18 appearances, Head Coach Dawn Ketterman-Benner's squad did not reach the conference title match, falling to Susquehanna University in the semifinals. Coach Ketterman-Benner is in her 27th season as the Greyhounds' leader, and she has a career record of 268-110 with 11 conference titles including three in the first five years of action in the Landmark Conference.

Moravian began its 2012-13 season back in September and posted a 4-0 record in the fall portion of its schedule. The Greyhounds will begin the spring season with a trip to Virginia during Spring Break the first week in March.

Defending Landmark Conference champion The University of Scranton was selected to repeat in 2013 after receiving five of the seven first-place votes and a total of 57 points. Susquehanna was picked second with 37 points and one first-place vote while Drew University was third in the poll with the final first-place vote and 31 points. The Greyhounds received 29 points, just one ahead of fifth place The Catholic University of America. Rounding out the poll were Goucher College in sixth place with 23 points and Juniata College in seventh with 12 points.
