BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University women's tennis squad posted a 9-0 non-conference win over visiting DeSales University at Hoffman Courts in a contest that was split over two days due to weather.
How It Happened
- The match began on Sunday, September 25 but was suspended until Friday afternoon due to rain making Hoffman Courts to slippery to continue earlier in the week
- The Greyhounds had a 3-0 lead after the doubles action on Sunday. Seniors Maddie Figiel and Cristina Merone recorded an 8-1 victory at second doubles while senior Julianne Cassady and freshman Izzy Szmodis earned an 8-2 triumph at first doubles
- Moravian received wins by default at third doubles and sixth singles for a 4-0 edge
- Junior Mara Stapleton posted the winning team point with a 6-2, 6-0 victory while Szmodis won 6-0, 6-1 at third singles on Sunday before the match was suspended by the weather
- On Friday, Cassady finished off her first singles contest with a 6-1, 6-0 victory while Figiel quickly followed with a 6-2, 6-2 triumph at second singles. Merone finished off the match with a 6-2, 6-1 win at fourth singles
