Greyhounds Earn Non-Conference Victory at Alvernia

READING, Pa. --- The Moravian University women's tennis team earned a 7-2 victory at Alvernia University in non-conference action Wednesday.

How It Happened

  • The Greyhounds swept the doubles contests to move out to a 3-0 lead. The duo of junior Mara Stapleton and sophomore Rose Lombardo were the first to finish after capturing their third doubles match by an 8-1 score. Seniors Maddie Figiel and Cristina Merone recorded an 8-4 triumph at second doubles while senior Julianne Cassady and freshman Izzy Szmodis completed the sweep with an 8-5 win at first doubles
  • Alvernia earned the first singles point by winning at third singles while Figiel made it 4-1 with a 6-2, 6-2 victory at second singles. Merone captured the winning team point with a 6-3, 6-3 victory at fourth singles before the Crusaders won the first singles matchup. Junior Megan O'Brien posted a 6-3, 6-1 win at sixth singles while Lombardo completed the contest with a 6-2, 6-3 victory at fifth singles
