BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University women's tennis squad shut out visiting Kean University, 9-0, Sunday in the Greyhounds final non-conference match of the year.
How It Happened
- The Hounds took the two doubles matches played for an early 3-0 lead. Senior Julianne Cassady and freshman Izzy Szmodis had an 8-1 victory at first doubles while seniors Maddie Figiel and Cristina Merone earned an 8-2 triumph at second doubles
- The Blue & Grey would sweep the singles action too. Merone scored the winning team point with a 6-1, 6-1 victory at third singles while junior Gabby Martin recorded a 6-1, 6-2 triumph at fifth singles. Rounding out the Greyhounds' lineup were Cassady with a 6-0, 6-1 win at first singles, junior Megan O'Brien with a 6-2, 6-1 triumph at fourth singles and Figiel winning 6-1, 6-0 at second singles
- The match started with Moravian up 2-0 as the Cougars were only able to travel five players
- Prior to the start of the contest, Figiel was presented the inaugural Dawn Ketterman-Benner Award for her dedication to the program with former coach Ketterman-Benner on hand to present the award
