BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University women's tennis squad posted a 6-0 shutout win over NCAA Division II Kutztown University of Pennsylvania in a non-conference match played in Timothy Breidegam Fieldhouse.

How It Happened

  • The Greyhounds swept the doubles action to jump out to a 3-0 lead. The tandem of seniors Maddie Figiel and Cristina Merone finished first with an 8-1 victory at second doubles while senior Julianne Cassady and freshman Izzy Szmodis completed their first doubles contest shortly after with an 8-0 triumph. Junior Mara Stapleton and sophomore Rose Lombardo finished the doubles sweep with an 8-4 win at third doubles
  • Moravian also earned victories in the first two singles matches to finish to clinch the victory, and with the match being played indoors and the men to follow, the squads had agreed to play to decision
  • Szmodis quickly made it 4-0 for the Blue & Grey with a 6-1, 6-0 win at third singles while Cassady clinched the match with a 6-2, 6-1 triumph at first singles. Figiel was into her second set at second singles so the match was played out with Figiel posting a 6-2, 6-2 victory to set the final score at 6-0
