BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Moravian University is continuing to look back at its 2023-24 athletic campaign. The next contest in the Top 10 Exciting Games from the past year is our No. 9 highlight – the women's basketball team earning a one-point win over Susquehanna University in the final minute of action in Johnston Hall.
The contest with the River Hawks on January 20 in Johnston Hall was the second meeting of the year between the squads. The Hounds held a 11-point lead heading into the fourth quarter. Susquehanna slowly cut into the lead in the final period, eventually tying the contest at 56-56 with 2:12 remaining. Moravian scored the final basket of the game with 34 seconds to go as senior forward Sam Osorio grabbed an offensive rebound and made the lay-up for a two-point lead. The Blue & Grey survived a last second lay-up attempt by Susquehanna to secure the 58-57 victory.
Osorio led the Greyhounds with a double-double in the contest of 15 points and 13 rebounds. Junior forward Brielle Guarente also tossed in 15 points while sophomore guard Jayda Cartagena netted 13 points as the trio accounted for 43 of the Hounds' 58 points that night.
