Moravian Men Hit Two AARTF Qualifying Marks & Post 16 PRs at Penn State Tune-Up

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. --- The Moravian University men's indoor track & field team had its final meet prior to the 2022 Landmark Conference Championships as the Greyhounds competed in the non-scoring Penn State University Tune-Up Friday with the Blue and Grey posting a pair of All-Atlantic Regional Track & Field qualifying marks and posting 16 PRs.

Top 10 Finishes

  • Senior Tim King was sixth in the 35-pound weight throw with a PR and an AARTF qualifying toss of 15.47 meters (50-9.25) on his opening throw of the competition while junior Adam Gildea posted a PR toss of 11.30 meters (37-1) to finish in tenth
  • Graduate student Shane Mastro finished seventh in the shot put with an AARTF qualifying toss of 15.17 meters (49-9.25)
  • Freshman Trevor Gray finished third in the 60-meter dash with a PR time of 7.16 seconds after qualifying seventh with a time of 7.26 seconds. Sophomore Matt Shea was ninth in the preliminaries, missing the finals by three-thousands of a second, after a PR time of 7.477 seconds (7.48)
  • Gray also took eighth in the 200-meter dash in a PR time of 23.17 seconds
  • Senior Shane Houghton placed ninth in the mile run with a PR time of 4:23.99
  • Freshman Joe Tivade took fourth in the 60-meter hurdles in a PR time of 9.86 seconds while freshman Jason Gartner was fifth in the race in a PR time of 9.93 seconds
  • Freshman Owen Sabastro placed eighth in the long jump with a leap of 5.95 meters (19-6.25) on his first attempt of the meet
  • Senior Brad Clemson finished ninth in the 400-meter dash in a time of 55.33 seconds while sophomore Paul Petre was a spot back in tenth with a PR time of 55.43 seconds 

PR Distances/Times

  • Freshman Jake Farrell recorded a PR time of 9:15.00 in the unseeded 3,000-meter run, bettering his previous PR by 24 seconds
  • Freshman Niko Nomura had a PR time of 7.90 seconds in the 60-meter dash preliminaries, taking a second off his PR
  • Freshman Owen Nahf registered a PR time of 4:26.85 in the mile run
  • Gartner also posted a PR in the 400-meter dash with a time of 55.96 seconds
  • Sophomore Brendon Ward ran a PR time of 2:08.84 in the 800-meter run while freshman Geoffrey Kleinberg had a PR of 2:09.25 and freshman Wyatt Poniktera added a PR of 2:13.84. Senior Richard Glennon posted a time of 2:11.56 in his first race at the 800-meter distance
  • Sabastro had a time of 23.97 seconds in his first 200-meter dash race while Shea recorded a time of 24.24 seconds in his first indoor race at the distance
