Mastro Competes in NCAA Division III Championship to Close 2022 Season and Career

GENEVA, Ohio --- The Moravian University men's outdoor track & field squad saw its 2022 season come to a close on Friday at the NCAA Division III Outdoor National Championships being hosted by the University of Mount Union and the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission at the SPIRE Institute and Academy.

  • Graduate student Shane Mastro competed at the NCAA Championships for the first time in his career, finishing fifth in his flight and 15th overall in the shot put with a toss of 15.42 meters (50-7.25) on his first throw of the meet, his third best career mark and tied for the fifth longest throw in school history. Mastro fouled on his second attempt of the preliminaries before finishing his collegiate career with a mark of 14.89 meters (48-10.25)
  • Mastro, who won eight Landmark Conference Championships in the shot put in his career, had entered the NCAA meet with the 15th best distance in the nation this year, a school record and PR of 16.11 meters (52-10.25) he threw two weeks ago at the Princeton University Elite Invitational on May 14. Mastro finished his career with five of the top ten distances in the shot put in school history
