Greyhounds Host Coach Pollard Invitational on Senior Day

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University men's outdoor track & field squad hosted their annual Coach Pollard Invitational Saturday while honoring their seven graduating seniors prior to the start of the meet.

Event Winners

  • Graduate student Peter Gingrich won the 800-meter run in a time of 1:57.80
  • Sophomore Jared Santos captured the 200-meter dash in a time of 22.58 seconds
  • Senior Shane Houghton claimed first in the 3,000-meter steeplechase event with an All-Atlantic Region Track and Field qualifying time of 9:29.71
  • The Moravian 'B' squad of Gingrich, seniors Brad Clemson and Dominic DeRafelo and freshman Geoffrey Kleinberg finished first in the 4x400-meter relay in a time of 3:30.51

  • Junior Christian Jancsarics finished sixth in the 5,000-meter run in 17:20.05
  • Freshman Trevor Gray was second in the 100-meter dash in a time of 11.24 seconds after posting an AARTF time of 11.10 to finish first in the preliminaries. Freshman Owen Sabastro finished fifth with a time of 11.57 seconds after a prelim time of 11.42 seconds and sophomore Marco Calantoni posted a time of 11.65 which earned him a sixth-place finish.
  • Kleinberg ran the 400-meter dash in a time of 50.97 seconds for a fourth-place finish and sophomore Matt Shea finished right behind Kleinberg in fifth place in 51.61 seconds while freshman Wyatt Poniktera placed tenth in a time of 56.32 seconds
  • Junior Ethan Cherubin and freshman Jason Gartner both ran in the 110-meter hurdles and finished in fourth and fifth respectively. Cherubin completed the event in 17.04 seconds while Gartner crossed the finish line at 17.99 seconds
  • In the 800-meter run, DeRafelo finished in second place behind Gingrich in a time of 1:58.94, followed by Clemson, who finished eighth at 2:00.69
  • Three Greyhounds competed in the 400-meter hurdles with Cherubin completing the event in 1:01.62 for fifth, then senior Richard Glennon finished in sixth in a time of 1:02.19 followed by Gartner, who ran the race in 1:02.82 for seventh
  • Sabastro earned a sixth-place finish in the 200-meter dash after running a 23.20 and Calantoni finishing tenth in a time of 24.27 seconds
  • The Moravian 'A' relay team that consisted of Gray, SheaSantos and sophomore Lance Burrier completed the 4x400-meter relay in 3:34.60 to finish fourth while the Moravian 'C' quartet of Poniktera and sophomores Brendon Ward, Paul Petre and Casey Frank finished eighth in a time of 3:45.68
  • Graduate student Shane Mastro finished in second place in the shotput with an AARTF qualifying toss of 14.87 meters (48-9.5) while senior Tim King placed seventh with a mark of 13.48 meters (44-2.75)
  • In the hammer throw, junior Dan Jenkins finished third with an AARTF qualifying mark of 47.54 meters (155-11) while Mastro threw for 45.54 meters (149-5) and King with a mark of 39.47 meters (129-6)
  • Mastro finished as the runner-up in the discus with a throw of 44.17 meters (144-11) to qualify for the AARTF meet while Jenkins and junior Adam Gildea earned fourth and fifth respectively, with Jenkins' AARTF qualifying throw of 42.02 meters (137-10) and Gildea's mark of 40.90 meters (134-2). King finished in eighth with a throw of 39.50 meters (129-7).
  • Senior Max Schuman was second in the pole vault at a height of 4.05 meters (13-3.5)
