Danoski Selected as Landmark Conference Women's Track Athlete of the Week

Carly Danoski selected as Landmark Conference Women's Track Athlete of the Week.

TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian College senior Carly Danoski has been selected as the Landmark Conference Women's Track Athlete of the Week for her performance last week.

Danoski won the mile run at the Moravian Indoor Meet at Lehigh University's Rauch Field House for the Greyhounds with a PR time of 5:06.95, the seventh fastest time in school history. Danoski also ran the third leg of Moravian's 4x400-meter relay squad that finished second with a time of 4:17.72. Moravian had seven Top 5 finishes in the meet as the squad competed for the first time in six weeks.

"To be honest, this race surprised us," commented Director of Track & Field and Cross Country Jesse Baumann. "She literally led from start to finish and started to drift into some laps in the 80s in the middle before closing in 70 her last 400. By her own admission, it was very comfortable which is even more of a pleasant surprise that a 5:06 mile by yourself can feel that good. This opened both of our eyes as a possible event for her to pursue moving forward this indoor season. If she can get into a deep field to help push her more, I think sub 5:00 could be in the cards. With Carly's leg speed and kick, I think that could bode really well for her if we're able to get her to the NCAAs. We'll see how the season plays out, and the 800 is still likely the focus, but Saturday may have opened the door for some other options to explore this winter season."

The Hounds are scheduled to compete in a pair of meets on Saturday, January 25 with a portion of the squad traveling to the Conference Challenge Cup Invitational at Nazareth (N.Y.) College and the rest of the team heading to the Coach I Open at Franklin & Marshall College.
