Greyhounds Drop Tri-Match at Penn State-Harrisburg

MIDDLETOWN, PA. --- The Moravian College women's volleyball squad dropped a pair of contests in a tri-match at Penn State-Harrisburg Saturday, falling to the host 3-2 and dropping a 3-1 match to Penn State-Altoona.

In the first match against Penn-State Harrisburg, the set scores were 25-23, 21-25, 25-23, 22-25, 15-12 for the Lions. Sophomore outside hitter Sela Herber had 10 kills, four digs and three service aces to lead the Greyhounds while sophomore middle blocker Jess Appleton and sophomore outside hitter Kirah Dreisbach each had nine kills with Dreisbach adding 14 digs, two service aces and two blocks. Sophomore middle blocker Renee Mapa contributed seven kills and four blocks while freshman defensive specialist/outside hitter Gabby Mancini had 17 digs, three kills and a pair of service aces. Senior setter Victoria Kauffman added 17 assists, five service aces, four digs and two kills while freshman setter Natalia Matos had 13 assists and three digs. Senior defensive specialist Alexis Szaro contributed 12 digs, three assists and two service aces while freshman defensive specialist Gabby Mineo added six digs.

The Greyhounds dropped the first set to Penn State-Altoona, 25-18, before winning the second set, 25-19. The Lions would win the next two sets 25-19, 25-20 to take the match. Mapa led the Blue and Grey with 12 kills and three blocks while Appleton and Dreisbach each had 11 kills with Dreisbach adding eight digs and a pair of service aces. Matos had four kills, six assists and 14 digs while Kauffman contributed 27 assists and four digs. Mancini and herber each had two kills while Herber adding seven digs and four service aces while Szaro had 11 digs and Mineo contributed nine digs.

Moravian is slated to return to action on Tuesday, September 10 when the squad hosts DeSales University in a non-conference contest beginning at 7:00 p.m. in Johnston Hall.
