Hounds Finish 2019 Campaign with Pair of Landmark Conference Contests

HUNTINGDON, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's volleyball team closed out its 2019 season on Saturday with a pair of Landmark Conference matches at Juniata College, falling 3-0 to the host and No. 21 ranked Eagles and dropping a 3-0 decision to The Catholic University of America.

Juniata won by set scores of 25-12, 25-18, 25-22, in the opening match of the day. Sophomore outside hitter Sela Herber paced the Greyhounds with eight kills and seven digs while sophomore middle blocker Renee Mapa had four kills and a pair of blocks. Freshman right side hitter Maddie Houchens and freshman setter Taylor Morley each had three kills with Morley adding six assists. Senior setter Victoria Kauffman recorded 11 assists with five digs while freshman defensive specialist Gabby Mancini had a team-high 10 digs. Sophomore outside hitter Kirah Dreisbach contributed nine digs while senior defensive specialist Alexis Szaro and freshman defensive specialist Gabby Mineo each added four digs.

The Cardinals registered sets wins of 25-20, 25-15, 25-20 in the final match of the season. Herber led the way once again with 13 kills and seven digs while Dreisbach had six kills, 10 digs and three service aces. Mappa had four kills and a pair of blocks while sophomore middle blocker Jess Appleton contributed four kills and three blocks. Kauffman registered 18 assists and three digs while Mancini had a team-high 14 digs. Szaro added 11digs while Morley had seven assists, three kills and three blocks. Houchens contributed a pair of kills and two blocks while Mineo had six digs and freshman setter Natalia Matos added five digs.

Kauffman finishes her career third in school history with 3,837 assists, and she is also sixth all-time at Moravian with 166 service aces. Kauffman also recorded 811 digs, 166 kills and 84 blocks in 126 career matches for the Hounds. Szaro finishes her four seasons with 905 digs, 90 service aces and 10 kills in 129 matches.
