Moravian Drops Tri-Match at Lebanon Valley

ANNVILLE, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's volleyball squad dropped a pair of 3-0 matches in a tri-match at Lebanon Valley College with Eastern University on Saturday in the Greyhounds' final two road non-conference contests of the season.

In their first match of the afternoon, the Hounds fell to Eastern, 25-16, 25-22, 25-18. Sophomore middle blockers Jess Appleton and Renee Mapa each had six kills and two blocks while sophomore outside hitters Kirah Dreisbach and Sela Herberboth had six kills as well with Dreisbach adding even digs and a pair of blocks and Herber having four digs and three blocks. Freshman setter Taylor Morleyadded 23 assists, eight digs, three kills and a pair of service aces while junior right side hitter Emerson Gieryic had two kills. Senior defensive specialist Alexis Szaro contributed 11 digs while freshman setter Natalia Matos had dive digs and two service aces.

The Greyhounds fell to the host Flying Dutchmen, 25-13, 25-17, 25-21 in the final match of the day. Herber paced the Blue and Grey with 13 kills to go with five digs while Mapa had six kills and four blocks. Driesbach contributed five kills and eight digs while Gieryic had three kills and three digs. Appleton and freshman right side hitter Maddie Houchens each had two kills with Houchens adding two blocks. Matos led Moravian with 18 assists to go with eight digs while Morley had six assists and three digs. Szaro posted a team-high 15 digs with three assists.

The Greyhounds are scheduled to return to action on Tuesday, October 29 when the squad closes out its 2019 home season by hosting Penn State Berks in a non-conference match beginning at 7:00 p.m. in Johnston Hall as the Hounds host Senior Night.
