Moravian Tops Cedar Crest to Earn Fourth Straight Victory

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's volleyball team posted a 3-1 win over visiting Cedar Crest College in Johnston Hall Wednesday evening as the Greyhounds hosted their annual Gold Out to raise money for the Pediatric Cancer Foundation of the Lehigh Valley.

The Hounds, who have now won four straight contests, opened the match by winning the first set, 25-19, before the Falcons captured the next set, 25-18. Moravian would then capture the third set, 25-15, before taking the fourth set, 25-20, to earn the victory.

Sophomore middle blocker Jess Appleton led the Blue and Grey with 11 kills while sophomore middle blocker Renee Mapa added ten kills and four blocks. Sophomore outside hitters Kirah Dreisbach and Sela Herber each had nine kills with Dreisbach contributing 15 digs and Herber adding 11 digs and four service aces.

Junior right side hitter Emerson Gieryic had eight kills, four digs and a pair of blocks for the Hounds while senior setter Victoria Kauffman had 30 assists, 11 digs and three service aces. Senior defensive specialist Alexis Szaro and freshman setter Natalia Matos each had five assists while freshman defensive specialist Gabby Mancini added four service aces and three digs and freshman setter Taylor Morley contributed 11 assists.

Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Saturday, September 28 in a tri-match at The United States Merchant Marine Academy with the Greyhounds playing Rutgers-Newark at 1:00 p.m. and the host Mariners at 3:00 p.m.
