Buzzy, Hughes & Scaff Selected as Moravian Women’s Soccer Captains for 2024 Campaign

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University women's soccer squad has selected seniors midfielder Anika Buzzy, defender Kylie Hughes and defender Hailey Scaff to serve as team captains for the 2024 campaign.

"We're excited to have Anika, Kylie, and Hailey as our team captains this season." stated Head Coach Jeff Ykoruk. "We truly appreciate and value their ability to motivate the team during challenging times, focus on teamwork and communication, and mentor younger players. With their exceptional leadership skills, they will help guide us to what we hope are new heights this season."

Buzzy earned a spot on the 2023 Landmark All-Conference Second Team after scoring one goal last fall. Buzzy, who missed the 2022 campaign with an injury, has two goals with one game-winning goal while starting 30 of 31 career matches. She is also a two-time member of the Landmark Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll.

Hughes, who is in her third season as team captain for the Blue & Grey, has contributed three goals and two assists in her career, having started 47 of 49 career contests. She has netted one career game-winning goal, and Hughes has helped Moravian post a 0.92 goals-against average over the last three seasons. She has earned a spot on the Landmark Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll the last two years.

Scaff was the 2023 Landmark Conference Defender of the Year while earning spots on the Landmark All-Conference First Team and United Soccer Coaches All-Region V Second Team last fall. In three seasons, Scaff has a goal and two assists while starting 45 of 49 career matches, and she has helped the defense record 24 shutouts over the last three years. Scaff is a two-time member of the Landmark Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll.

Moravian is slated to begin the 2024 slate on Friday, August 30 with a non-conference match versus Lebanon Valley College beginning at 7:00 p.m. on John Makuvek Field.
