ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- The sixth seeded Moravian University women's soccer team broke a scoreless tie in the 106th minute to earn a 1-0, double-overtime upset victory over third seed and host Elizabethtown College Tuesday evening in the Landmark Conference Tournament First Round as the Greyhounds advance.
How It Happened
- The Greyhounds dominated the first half statistically with a 7-1 advantage in shots and a 2-1 edge in corner kicks; however, neither team was able to get a ball into the net
- The second half was a reverse from opening 45 minutes as the Blue Jays recorded an 11-4 advantage in shots and a 2-0 edge in corner kicks in the second period
- Elizabethtown had the only two shots and two corner kicks in the first overtime session
- The Blue & Grey recorded a pair of shots in the second overtime. Just three minutes into the period, senior defender Hailey Scaff played a low free kick towards the far post, but sophomore midfielder Casey Sabolsky had her shot sail over the crossbar of the empty net
- Three minutes later, junior forward Colby Roach played a ball through the middle after a throw-in. Senior forward Carly Pyatt found the ball at the top of the 18-yard box, beating the Elizabethtown goalie to the ball and chipping a shot into the open net for the victory
Inside the Numbers
- Pyatt's goal was her team-leading seventh of the season and the 14th of her career. It was also her fourth game-winning goal of 2024 and the sixth in her four seasons
