Moravian Scores Late at Juniata to Clinch Landmark Conference Tournament Berth

HUNTINGDON, Pa. --- The Moravian University women's soccer team scored in the 81st minute to earn a 1-0 victory at Juniata College Saturday afternoon as the Greyhounds clinched a berth in the 2024 Landmark Conference Tournament.

How It Happened

  • The squads played a scoreless first half with the Hounds holding a 5-0 advantage in shots and a 1-0 edge in corner kicks
  • Moravian broke onto the scoreboard in the 81st minute when senior midfielder Sydney DeFranco put a pass from junior forward Elliot Rupp
  • The victory clinches a spot in the Landmark Conference Tournament First Round on Tuesday, November 5 versus an opponent to be determined after next weekend's final weekend of the regular season

  • DeFanco's goal is her first of the season and the fifth of her career while Rupp earned her first career assist
  • Graduate student keeper Riley Spingler did not face a shot on goal as she posted her ninth shutout of the year
