BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University women's soccer team scored three first half goals for its third shutout of the season as the Greyhounds captured the Sodexo Cup as part of Sodexo Crosstown Clash between Moravian and rival Muhlenberg College at John Makuvek Field Friday evening.
How It Happened
- The Hounds jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the sixth minute as senior midfielder Kylie Hughes converted on a penalty kick
- Moravian doubled the advantage to 2-0 in the 13th minute when senior midfielder Chelsea Meltzer put a shot inside the left post off a pass from senior forward Carly Pyatt
- The Blue & Grey pushed the lead to 3-0 in the 36th minute as junior forward Elliot Rupp came down the left side to tap in a crossing pass across the goal by Pyatt from the right side
- Neither team scored in the second half
Inside the Numbers
- Hughes' penalty kick was her first goal of the season and the fourth of her career while Meltzer netted her first goal of the season in her first action of 2024, and she has five career goals
- Rupp scored her second goal of the fall and fourth of her career while Pyatt now has three assists this season and four in her career
- Graduate student goalie Riley Spingler recorded two saves for her third shutout of the year
- Moravian finished the night with a 21-4 advantage in shots and a 9-2 edge in corner kicks
