BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University women's soccer team has earned the sixth seed in the 2024 Landmark Conference Tournament and heads to second seed Lycoming College in a Semifinal match on Thursday, November 7 at 7:00 p.m.
Admission to Thursday's match is $10 for adults and $5 for minors ages 10-17. Children ages nine and under are admitted free of charge, as are all Landmark Conference students, faculty and staff with their school ID. For the second straight year, the Landmark Conference Tournament features six teams with the top two seeds earning first round byes. The Greyhounds defeated third seed Elizabethtown College, 1-0 in double overtime to earn the right to travel to Lycoming for a Semifinal match on Thursday, November 7. Thursday's other Semifinal contest has fourth seed Drew University, a 2-1 winner over fifth seed The Catholic University of America in the other first round match, heading to top seed No. 14 The University of Scranton on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. as well. The 2024 Landmark Conference Championships match is set for Saturday, November 9 at the highest remaining seed for the conference title and a berth to the 2024 NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament.
The Greyhounds, who are 9-4-6 overall and were 3-2-4 in the Landmark Conference regular season, are under led by 11th-year Head Coach Jeff Ykoruk, who has guided Moravian to the postseason for the second straight fall and for the sixth time since his tenure began in 2014.
Senior forward Carly Pyatt has netted seven goals and added three assists to lead the Greyhounds in scoring, and she has four game-winning goals while senior midfielder Kylie Hughes, senior midfielder Chelsea Meltzer and junior forward Elliot Rupp have all scored two goals and one assist this fall. Senior defender Hailey Scaff, senior midfielder Sydney DeFranco and junior forward Colby Roach each have a goal and an assist while senior midfielder Taylor Yoder has scored one goal and junior defender Grace Blenis has one assist.
Senior defender Cori Pursel and sophomore midfielder/defender Casey Sabolsky had both seen action in all 18 matches this fall for the Greyhounds while sophomore defender Regan Bleiler and senior midfielder Natalie Reilly both have played in 16 contests. Sophomore defender Jenna Castaldo and freshman midfielder/forward Mackenzie Schreiber have been on the pitch for 15 contests while senior midfielder Anika Buzzy started six matches before an injury sidelined her for the season.
Graduate student goalie Riley Spingler has made 58 saves to go with a 6-4-5 record, a 0.51 GAA and ten shutouts in 1,410 minutes while sophomore goalie Caitlyn Philips has added 11 saves, a 3-0-1 mark and two shutouts in 315 minutes of action. The duo has combined for another shutout.
The Hounds and Warriors played to a scoreless draw when the squads met on John Makuvek Field back on October 12 during the regular season.
