TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian University graduate student goalie Riley Spingler has been honored as the Landmark Conference Women's Soccer Defensive Athlete of the Week for her performance last week.
Spingler did not allow a goal, and she recorded 11 saves in a pair of scoreless draws for the Greyhounds last week. Spingler made six saves in a 0-0 tie at Montclair State University, and she registered five saves in a 0-0 match versus The Catholic University of America to begin the 2024 Landmark Conference season. Both opponents last week were regionally ranked by the United Soccer Coaches with Montclair State sixth in Region 4 and Catholic eighth in Region 5.
"Riley has been tremendous for us so far this season," stated Head Coach Jeff Ykork. "Not only has she demonstrated great shot-stopping abilities, but she has also provided us with leadership and is a calming presence for our backline."
The Greyhounds are scheduled to return to action on Wednesday, October 2 when the team welcomes Eastern University for a non-conference match beginning at 4:30 p.m. on John Makuvek Field.
