WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. --- The sixth seeded Moravian University women's soccer squad fell to host and second seed Lycoming College, 2-1, in the Landmark Conference Semifinals Thursday evening to end the 2024 season.
How It Happened
- The Warriors opened the scoring in the 21st minute on a corner kick with the shot going inside the left post
- The Greyhounds went down a player in the 28th minute after a foul that drew a red card
- Both squads took five shots in the first half with the Warriors putting four on the net and one of the post while the Blue & Grey had three shots on goal in the opening 45 minutes of play
- Lycoming hit the post twice and the crossbar once in the opening five minutes of the second half
- Moravian evened the score in the 52nd when senior midfielder Sydney DeFranco put a shot inside the right post from the top of the 18-yard box off a pass by junior forward Colby Roach played in from the right sideline
- The Hounds nearly took the lead in the 64th minute as DeFranco put a shot just outside the right post
- Just over two minutes later, the Warriors moved back in front with what ended up being the winning goal
Inside the Numbers
- DeFranco netted her second goal of the season and the sixth of her career while Roach earned her second assist of the fall and her career
- Graduate student keeper Riley Spingler registered nine saves in the contest
