Crystal Robinson running for NCAA Women of the Year nominee

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. --- Crystal Robinson, a recent 2023 Moravian University graduate from the women's track & field program, has been selected as the Greyhounds' 2023 nominee for the NCAA Woman of Year Award.

Rooted in Title IX and directed by the NCAA Committee on Women's Athletics, the NCAA Woman of the Year program celebrates the accomplishments of female college athletes across all three NCAA divisions. Over 220,000 women are competing in college sports, and the NCAA received a record breaking 619 nominations for this prestigious award in the 33rd year of the program including 227 from Division III.

Eligible female student-athletes are nominated by their member school. Each conference office then reviews the nominations from its core member schools (and sponsored sports) and submits its conference nominee(s) to the NCAA. Then, in September, the NCAA Woman of the Year selection committee identifies the Top 30 – 10 from each division – and from there selects three finalists from each division. The Committee on Women's Athletics then selects the winner from the nine finalists.

Member schools are urged to submit two nominations if at least one of the nominees is a student-athlete of color or international student-athlete. The nomination form is completed by the member school and student-athlete and submitted via the NCAA Program Hub.

All conference-level nominees are forwarded to the Woman of the Year selection committee. The selection committee will choose the top 10 honorees in each division. From among those 30 honorees, the selection committee will determine the three finalists in each division. Finally, the members of the Committee on Women's Athletics will vote from among the top nine finalists to determine the 2023 NCAA Woman of the Year.

Robinson had a decorated career on the track at Moravian and put her name among the list of outstanding members in program history. She was a 13-time All-Landmark Conference First Team selection, a four-time All-Conference Second Team honoree, and was named to the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Region teams a total of 11 times in her four seasons that saw one outdoor and one indoor campaign cancelled by the pandemic.

Robinson was selected as the Landmark Conference Indoor Track Athlete of the Year in 2020 and 2022 and was named the Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year in 2022 and 2023. She helped Moravian capture the 2020 Landmark Conference Indoor Championship and the 2021 and 2022 Outdoor Landmark Conference Championships. Robinson was as a two-time NCAA National Championship qualifier for the Greyhounds, helped set school records in the 4x400-meter relay both indoors and outdoors, the 4x100-meter relay outdoors and 1,600-meter sprint medley relay outdoors, and ranks in the top 10 in four different individual events.

Off the track, Robinson earned a spot on Moravian's Dean's Honors List eight times as well as being a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma National College Athlete Honor Society. She was a six-time member of the Landmark Conference Academic Honor Roll, selected as the 2023 Landmark Conference Senior Scholar-Athlete for Women's Indoor Track & Field and earlier this week was named the 2023 Landmark Conference Female Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Robinson majored in business management and was selected to the 2023 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team and received USTFCCCA All-Academic honors three times. She also served on the track & field program's leadership council for two years while participating in track & field days with William Penn Elementary school and Moravian's Heritage Day of Service throughout her career.

All school and conference nominees receive an NCAA certificate and will be recognized on www.ncaa.org. The top 30 honorees will be honored, and the 2023 NCAA Woman of the Year winner will be announced in November.
