Hounds Begin Outdoor Season at Lynchburg with Four AARTFC Marks

LYNCHBURG, Va. --- The Moravian University women's outdoor track & field squad began its 2024 season at the Dr. Jack M. Toms Alumni Invitational hosted by the University of Lynchburg on Friday and Saturday

Moravian Top 10 Finishers

  • Junior Abby Giamoni took third in the 400-meter dash in a time of 59.02 seconds
  • Giamoni also placed fifth in the 200-meter dash in 25.92 seconds
  • Junior Amber Poniktera finished fourth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with an All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Conference qualifying time of 11:53.13 while junior Rachael Goodman was fourth with an AARTFC qualifying time of 11:56.76
  • Sophomore Margie Rayne placed third in the discus with an AARTFC qualifying toss of 38.74 meters (127-1)
  • Sophomore Ali Haefele took eighth in the championship triple jump finals with a mark of 10.89 meters (35-8.5)
  • Senior Lexi Groff tied for ninth in the high jump at a height of 1.50 meters (4-11)
  • On the track Friday evening, sophomore Tara Smurla placed third in the 5,000-meter run with an AARTFC qualifying time of 17:55.98
  • In field events on Friday, junior Caillie Fish took eighth in the hammer throw with a toss of 41.29 meters (135-5)
