Greyhounds Finish Third at 2024 Landmark Conference Indoor Championships

SELINSGROVE, Pa. --- The Moravian University women's indoor track & field team finished third at the 2024 Landmark Conference Championships hosted by Susquehanna University as the Greyhounds posted 101 points. The Hounds won one event title and had seven All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Conference qualifying marks.

Moravian Top 8 Finishers

  • Sophomore Tara Smurla was the runner-up in the first track event of the day, taking second in the 5,000-meter run in a time of 19:06.29 to score eight points while sophomore Meghan Myers finished sixth in 19:42.36 for three points and freshman Kayla O'Neil ran a PR time of 19:49.61 to place seventh and earn two points
  • Sophomore Ali Haefele took second in the triple jump with a personal best and AARTFC qualifying mark of 10.98 meters (36-0.25) to earn eight points
  • Junior Abby Giamoni finished second in the 400-meter dash in an AARTFC qualifying time 59.77 seconds to score eight points
  • Sophomore Karalyn Vashey was the runner-up in the 20-pound weight throw with a toss of 14.24 meters (46-8.75) to garner eight points while sophomore Margie Rayne was fourth at a personal best distance of 13.82 meters (45-4.25) for five points. Junior Caillie Fish earned four points for a fifth place and PR toss of 13.67 meters (44-10.25) while sophomore Heather Adams was sixth at a PR mark of 13.66 meters (44-9.75) for three points and junior Liz Miskovsky took seventh with a PR toss of 13.61 meters (44-8) to score two points
  • Graduate student Jocelynn Itterly finished second in the high jump at a PR and AARTFC qualifying height of 1.61 meters (5-3.25) to earn eight points. Senior Lexi Groff was third at the same AARTFC qualifying height but more attempts to garner six points while Haefele scored three points for a fifth-place finish at 1.51 meters (4-11.5)
  • Smurla earned a third-place finish in the 3,000-meter run in a PR and AARTFC qualifying time of 10:34.06 to score six points while Goodman was fifth in 10:54.93 for four points
  • The Hounds' 4x200-meter relay squad of junior Ashley Rodrigues and sophomores Shai Knight and Makenna Mersch and freshman Rachele Grigoli finished fifth in 1:54.48 to garner four points
  • Giamoni took sixth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.79 seconds for three points
  • Poniktera placed seventh in the mile run in a time of 5:42.23 to net two points
  • Haefele was seventh in the long jump with a leap of 5.03 meters (16-6) to earn two points
  • Junior Arin Peykar placed eighth in the shot put at 9.90 meters (32-5.75) to score one point
  • Giamoni was eighth in the finals of the 60-meter dash in 8.44 seconds to pick up one point. She had qualified for the finals in fifth at an AARTFC qualifying time of 8.01 seconds
