Moravian Celebrates Senior Day but Falls to Catholic

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College field hockey team honored its departing seniors prior to their final match on John Makuvek Field Saturday; however, the Greyhounds would end up falling to visiting The Catholic University of America, 5-1, Saturday afternoon.
 
The Hounds and Cardinals were scoreless through the first quarter and the first five minutes of the second quarter before Catholic scored three times eight minutes to head to the intermission with a 3-0 lead. The Blue and Grey struck first in the second half with freshman forward Maddie Call netting her third goal of the season as she knocked in a crossing pass from the right side by junior midfielder Mae Dienes as the Greyhounds broke down the field. The Cardinals answered with two more goals late in the period for the 5-1 advantage.
 
Moravian junior goalie Ashley Kunsman recorded nine saves in the first half while freshman goalie Brooke Wilkinson had four saves in the second half. Junior defender Talea Gordon made a pair of defensive stops while senior defender Haley Wrazien added one defensive save.
 
The Greyhounds honored Wrazien, Sara Cruz, Devyn Lapp, Ashley Magee, Kylie Mastricola, Olivia Schlofer and Elisa Silecchia before the contest for their career with the program.
 
Moravian is slated to return to action on Saturday, November 2 when the squad travels to Goucher College in Townson, Maryland for a Landmark Conference match beginning at 1:00 p.m. to close out the season.
