BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College softball program has named seniors pitcher Meghan Bauer, infielder Maura Kane and catcher Brooke Wehr as team captains for the 2021 season.

Bauer was named to the Landmark All-Conference Second Team in 2019, and she is a two-time member of the Landmark Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll. Bauer has recorded a 5-1 career mark in the circle with four saves, a 1.39 earned run average, 45 strikeouts and just 15 walks in 45.1 innings of action.

"Meg has developed into a strong leader within her time with our program," stated Head Coach John Byrne, who is entering his 28th season leading the Hounds. "She sets a strong example with her work ethic and character both on and off the field."

Kane, who was also one of the Hounds' captains last spring, has seen action in eight career games with a pair of hits and two RBIs.

"Maura's dedication and commitment to our program has been evident throughout her four years," commented Byrne. "This, combined with her outgoing personality, makes her valuable as one of our team's leaders."

Wehr, who is in her third season as a team captain, was selected to the Landmark All-Conference First Team as a catcher in 2019 and an outfielder in 2018. She is a two-time member of the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Atlantic Region Third Team, and Wehr has been named to the Landmark Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll. She enters the season with a .375 career batting average to go along with 122 hits, 105 runs, 18 doubles, three triples, 22 home runs and 78 RBIs in 90 career contests. Wehr's 22 homers rank fifth in program history.

"Brooke leads by example in all aspects of her game," Byrne noted. "Her unrelenting drive for excellence is contagious throughout our program."

The No. 17 Greyhounds are scheduled to begin their 2021 season on Saturday, March 13 when the squad hosts Gwynedd Mercy University in a non-conference doubleheader beginning at 1:00 p.m. at Blue & Grey Field in Bethlehem.
